NEMO is a peer-to-peer support and advocacy network for exiled media.
We provide a safe space for representatives of exiled media organizations to come together and learn from each other, by sharing their successes and challenges.
We talk about all things exiled media, from finding funding to psychosocial support. We believe that knowledge is power, and that a free press is more powerful when united.

✴︎ By exiled media, for exiled media
How many of us are out there? We don’t know the exact number, but we do know this: the exiled media ecosystem is fragmented—divided by language barriers, geographic distance, and a lack of spaces where organizations can learn from one another. To bridge this gap, NEMO promotes knowledge-sharing opportunities aimed at helping media outlets become more resilient.
We are proud to be represented by well-established and geographically diverse organizations that are committed to investing their time to change the narrative about exiled media.

A toolkit for the exiled media journey
In partnership with the International Journalists’ Network (IJNet), a project of the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), NEMO created a toolkit for exiled media organizations and media professionals who are in different stages of the exile journey.
We hope that the resources and case studies of the Exiled Media Toolkit will give you ideas to set up and run your organization entirely from abroad, or in a hybrid dynamic.
The Exiled Media Toolkit is available in English, Persian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Russian. Translations to other languages will be coming soon.
